#36 - Change of room

Late today Philip was moved to a room with a window, 18B, thanks to the good efforts of Jane the social worker with the Pall Care team. He can see shrubs and sky at last. This is the best news since he moved to TCH, especially as the hospice move has been delayed. They are resurfacing the floors of two rooms so that reduces the number available.

He was getting a bit worried about being confused and the dilemma of how much pain medication to have. That seems to be the cause of the confusion and he doesn't want to be pain free but doped out. The nurses were asking him how much break-through hydromorphone he wanted and this was stressing him; so it has now been settled at a standard dose.

Otherwise he remains in good spirits by and large, is delighted to have a room with a view again and enjoys his visitors. Today a friend who has worked with him on mental health issues came up from the coast to visit.

His phone is still grafted to his hand and he manages to use a stylus in lieu of fingers. He would like to sit up properly in order to use a laptop but this is not possible at present. At the hospice they have portable daybeds which can be configured in various ways.
